This series of paintings includes abstracted landscapes inspired by time outside and life on the river. I take into consideration the traditional landscapes of the past and expand on the concept by bringing the negative space forward and using non-traditional color combinations.
Trees and horizon lines may appear and then retreat under brushstrokes and mark-making.
I have chosen these paintings to print in a book with poetry that is also inspired by nature, titled Sunday’s Light.
Copies of Karlene’s book of poetry will be for sale at the opening for $25 each.
